Night skiing at Le Collet

Experience the mountains under the stars

How about extending your day to the stars this evening? At Le Collet, night is not the end of skiing – it’s the best part.

It’s 8pm. The sun has long since set behind the peaks of the Belledonne. The resort has fallen asleep, the day skiers have put their skis away and the children are in the warmth. And yet… the ski lifts are still turning. The floodlights cut through the snow in the dark of night. And a lucky few, bundled up in their ski clothes, are about to experience something a little bit magical.

Welcome to night skiing at Le Collet.

An extraordinary skiing experience

Skiing at night isn’t just about skiing out of time. It’s another way of experiencing the mountains. The landmarks change, the shadows play on the snow, the air is crisper and the slopes quieter. You feel smaller and freer at the same time.

At Le Collet, the night-time ski area is by no means anecdotal: there are 10 fully-lit runs, served by three chairlifts and two drag lifts, stretching from the top of the area at 2,140 metres to the bottom of the resort at 1,450 metres. It’s not for nothing that Le Collet is recognised as one of Europe’s great night skiing areas. A rare distinction, and an opportunity for all those who like to ski off the beaten track – or rather, off the beaten track.

For the week's workers...

and holidaymakers who want more

Night skiing is first and foremost a godsend for those who live in the region and struggle to find time to put on skis in the middle of the day. After a day’s work, heading up to Collet for an evening on the slopes is the best remedy for the week’s stress. In just a few hours, you can forget about meetings, traffic jams and overdue files. All that’s left is the snow, the night and the sensation of skiing down a slope in the light of the floodlights.

But night skiing at Le Collet isn’t just for locals. For families on holiday or groups of friends staying at the resort, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the pleasure without sacrificing a day’s skiing. A short break at the end of the afternoon, dinner and a return to the slopes for an evening to remember. A memory that the children will be talking about at school on Monday morning, guaranteed.

A warm, festive atmosphere

What makes the evening events at Le Collet so special is the atmosphere they create. The resort is regularly transformed for the occasion, with music blasting down the slopes, lively refreshment bars to keep you warm between runs, and themed evenings that provide an opportunity to dress up in the most unlikely costumes. Imagine hurtling down a slope in a disco suit or superhero costume… all the while laughing with strangers who share the same festive spirit.

The slopes are less crowded than during the day, which naturally creates a certain complicity between skiers. People make way for each other, smile and encourage each other. The atmosphere is relaxed, happy and light. The real mountain, the one we share.

And when the legs have had their rest, the resort’s restaurants take over. A fondue, a raclette, a comforting mountain dish to end the evening in style: it’s the ideal programme after a few descents under the stars.

Behind the scenes at the station

Live my life as a groomer, another night-time activity

Now that you’re on the slopes in the evening, perhaps you’ve noticed these big red machines criss-crossing the slopes as night falls? The groomers are the guardians of the slopes, tirelessly preparing the snow for the next day. At Le Collet, we invite you to find out more.

Every season, the resort offers a unique experience: a presentation of the groomer’s job and the impressive machines that work behind the scenes to ensure you enjoy perfect pistes every morning.

The event, which is free and open to all, takes place when the Collet pistes are closed. Entry includes a first ride in a snow groomer and a complete introduction to the job.

Before putting on your skis in the evening: a few tips

Night skiing is available depending on the weather conditions. Before going up, remember to check the opening times of the night skiing area the day before or the day of, on the website home page,Facebook page or Instagram page.

The ticket offices open during the evenings. You can also benefit from a reduced rate on the night pass if you have skied during the day with your pass: a great way to make the pleasure last!

The mountain doesn't stop at nightfall

There’s something a little irrational about putting on skis when everyone else is heading home. Something that feels like a gentle rebellion against the usual rhythm. A way of reminding ourselves that the mountain is there, and at night too, beautiful and generous, ready to offer a few more descents to those who dare.

That’s what we believe in at Le Collet: parties that overflow, laughter that echoes in the cold, snow that sparkles under the spotlights. Night skiing is all of these things. An experience you should have at least once in a season. And one that you’ll soon want to do all over again.
